Self Sustainable Hut

O conceito é criar uma casa que trabalhe em simbiose com os seus habitantes, sustentando uns aos outros, produzindo o mínimo impacto possível sobre o seu ambiente. O projeto é baseado em princípios simples. Para utilizar plenamente a energia fornecida pelo sol todos os quartos sao virados a sul, produzindo um longo e estreito edifício com uma fachada envidraçada a sul. Uma pala protege as janelas do sol de verão, mas permite que este penetre durante o inverno, minimizando a necessidade de aquecimento. Uma fileira de aberturas menores na fachada oposta fornece ventilação cruzada, mantendo o edifício fresco durante os dias quentes de verão. Um telhado verde mantém o interior do edifício a uma temperatura constante e proporciona integração com a paisagem. A forma final do edifício assemelha-se a uma onda, reunindo todas as noções anteriores

The concept is to create a home that works in symbiosis with its inhabitants, sustaining each other whilst producing the minimum possible impact on its environment. The design is based on simple principles. To fully utilise the energy provided by the sun all rooms face south, producing a long and narrow shaped building with a glazed south facade. An overhang protects the windows from the summer sun, but allows it to penetrate during the winter, minimising the necessity for heating. A row of smaller widows on the opposite facade provides cross ventilation, keeping the building fresh during the hot summer days. A green roof keeps the inside of the building at a constant temperature and provides integration with the landscape. The final shape of the building resembles a wave, pulling all the previous notions together.
